Hi all,

I notice there's a new button above the chart called "Activate Indicator Trading Signals". What is it and how do we use it?

Indicator trading allows one to automatically enter trades based on signals generated from an indicator on the chart.

General Caveats:

  •          Use previous bar close  to avoid false trades
  •          Do not signal every other bar
  •          Do not leave unattended
  •          Swordfish must be running and not minimised
  •          You cannot correct the strategy manually

We suggest you try it on the Swordfish Demo environment before you try it in the Production environment.

Here is a description of the indicator method that was added via the Custom Indicator editor -> Insert Method -> Advanced functions:

ENTERPOSITION(FormulaData cond, FormulaData f, String strategyName, string principal, string dealer, int quantity)

Cond:                    condition formula

F:                            chart data

StrategyName: Name in order to recognise trades

Principal:              As required

Dealer:                 As required

Quantity:             Required position balance on given instrument.

The image below is to indicate navigation path to adding the "ENTERPOSITION" method.

How it should work:

Using the charts instrument code, it will

  1. Cancel all the active orders of that instrument with the given StrategyName.
  2. Calculate what your current position is for this day using deals with the given StrategyName.
  3. Enter an order to match the given quantity.

E.g. if you entered (+)3 as quantity, and today bought 2 and sold 5 (current -3). It will enter a trade for 6.

The price will be the difference between the current best bid or ask and last price value, above or below the current best bid or ask in an attempt to fill immediately.

Many thanks sir. I'll experiment with it for a while. Hopefully it can trigger trades based on BUY / SELL signals from a trading strategy. It's much appreciated.

Guys, we need more info. This screen shot does not help. Make vid if you can but definitely give more detail.

"Use previous bar close to avoid false trades" ?? That does not say much at all.

Please give a fuller description.

Has anyone managed to test this successfully? I have tested it with one ALMI contract in conjunction with SIGNAL() method. Signal appears, but no positions are entered.
